LECTURE SERIES.  Six 15-minute online lectures will cover a comprehensive overview of nitrogen use and stewardship in corn-producing areas of East-Central IL.  The lectures will provide students an understanding of the importance of nitrogen use in crop production, why good stewardship is so important and how farmers are working to improve stewardship of nitrogen use. Discussion questions and quizzes related to each lecture will be provided.

PRACTICE

SUPPORTING THE LOCAL FFA CHAPTER.  The local FFA Chapter will be invited to collect samples to track plant-available N from two local farm fields.  Equipment, supplies, and training on how to collect and submit samples will be provided by Illini FS.

BECOME

NITROGEN NINJA STATUS.  Students are invited to sign-up for the Nitrogen Ninja Basic Training course. The online program is designed to expose young minds to the processes involved in the Nitrogen Cycle and how each process can be managed to help improve farm profitability and nutrient stewardship.
